Strike up the band at 10:00 a.m. with an hour long
parade featuring the "Hit Men," an award winning Drum and Bugle Corp from
Rochester, NY. Other great bands include the Penn Dixie Band, Owego Free
Academy Marching Band, Kirby Band, and the Maine Community Band. Mayor Ed
Arrington, 2008 Parade Marshall, will host the parade which includes floats,
clowns, marching units, Kalurah Temple motorized display, miniature train, horse
units, and antique cars, plus much more. It's one of the best parades in the
Southern Tier!
Pooches Parade-Please join us in the 3rd Annual Pooches on Parade! You can walk your dog (in costume if you like) in the Owego Strawberry Festival Parade and have the proceeds go to various animal shelters. Registration begins at 8 am at the Coburn Free Library on Main Street, Owego. To be in this event, we ask that you obtain at least one donation per walker. There will be a contest with cash prizes for the best and funniest costume, best trick, so ugly they're cute, pet/owner look-a-like and most donations. So bring your pooch and let the fun begin!
