This year's theme:  "The Strawberry Explosion!"  Mark your calendars for Friday Night, June 19 and Saturday, June 20, for Strawberry Festival 2009!  This will be our 29th year of the Strawberry Festival, the Southern Tier's grandaddy signature festival, an event filled with entertainment, food, artisans, parade, strawberry shortcakes and everything else strawberries!  The Festival grows each year and manages to keep its small town country flavor boasting approximately 30,000 visitors each year.  It's an outdoor event held rain or shine in downtown Owego, New York, "the coolest small town in America!." 

The Festival kicks off Friday night at 5:30 pm till 10:30 pm and on Saturday runs from 9 am - 4 pm.

 

   

The 29th Annual Owego Strawberry Festival - plans for our biggest year yet!

Plan to enjoy plenty of great food and a fantastic array of arts and crafts.  Over 170 vendors and artisans will line the streets.  Visit the shops in downtown Owego.  Our selection of fine restaurants and unique shops are filled with distinctive merchandise and is sometimes referred to as “the best kept secret in the Southern Tier!”

Since the debut of the Owego Strawberry Festival 29 years ago, hundreds of thousands of people have been drawn to downtown Owego to experience the charm of this annual festival.  We urge everyone to come early and be ready for a full day of fun and excitement! Additional events surrounding the Festival: 

FRIDAY NIGHT BLOCK PARTY - 5:30-10:30 pm.  Lake Street and part of Front Street will be blocked from traffic so everyone's invited to celebrate the Kick-Off Night of Strawberry Festival weekend.  Stores and restaurants will be open, strawberries will be for sale, enjoy some shortcake, good food, dance to the music and have some fun.  Bring your lawn chairs!

Sunday, 6/21 - Father's Day Breakfast on Hiawatha Island
9:00 am - 11:00 am  - Enjoy a boat ride to Hiawatha Island and explore this unique historical site and wildlife refuge. Enjoy a big, farm-style breakfast. To benefit the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club.

Sunday, 6/21 - Strawberry Festival Contra and Square Dance
4:00-7:00 pm - Band-Rosie's Ready Mix, Caller-Bob Nicholson. Beginners welcome, all dances taught & prompted, no partner needed. $7 admission, $5 for students and seniors, family max. $15.
